The second solo exhibition by painter Jana Šárová, held at the Václav Špála Gallery in the heart of Prague, was titled FUSION. In Jana’s work, this concept refers to the merging of two distinct approaches into a unified whole (such as figuration and abstraction, the worlds of humans and animals, city and jungle…). This principle also inspired the graphic design of the exhibition’s visual identity.
The main headline – the exhibition title, as well as the names of individual series in the catalogue – is composed of two contrasting typefaces: a clean sans serif with playful alternates for certain letters (such as “N”…), and a contrasting serif italic.
At the artist’s request, a segment of her new, vibrant painting titled First Night on Earth became the central visual motif across exhibition materials. A white circle based on the golden ratio appears within this painting and was later incorporated into the invitation and catalogue through a circular cut-out.
The catalogue cover is minimalist, featuring only the artist’s name and the exhibition title, topped with a blind embossing of the main headline. However, the circular cut-out hints that inside awaits an explosion of imagination and color. The catalogue content offers a cross-section of the artist’s work, from her student years to the present.
