Radical Nature

The Radical Nature exhibition, organised by curator Julie Bergmann in collaboration with the Czech Centre in Munich, is closely linked to the SCHMUCK 2023 jewellery fair. Six distinctive personalities from the world of Czech jewellery present six different views of nature as a whole in its individuality. The title of the exhibition is a play on words - with two possible meanings of the phrase — nature in its uncompromising, expressive form, modified by the intervention of the artist, or a strong “radical” human nature. All of the selected artists and their works fit the description of this characteristic without fail. The visual style of the exhibition follows the previously mentioned interpretation of the name Radical Nature and a distinctive element is the use of slit cardboard - the details which the cuts create through the paper evoke natural shapes and patterns which can be found there - the paper, as a medium for reproducing the works of selected artists in the form of a catalogue, invitations to the exhibition and more, therefore represents a view of its radical nature - as does the Bourrasque font, which has a sharp right and left slant of 45 degrees.
